Sheltered In

These are unusual times we are living in. With the corona virus pandemic sweeping the globe and government mandates restricting our movements, we have become accustomed to new phrases like, Social Distancing, Sanitize, COVID-19, PPE, Repurpose, and Quarantine to name a few.

We are encouraged to wash our hands often and not touch our face. And as much as we can, stay “sheltered in”.

Sheltered in. When I hear those words my mind pulls from memory the classic gospel song penned by Dottie Rambo and Gov. Jimmie Davis, Sheltered In the Arms of God. I’m sure you’re familiar with the tune but do you recall the lyrics. In case you’ve forgotten, read them here:

I feel the touch of hands so kind and tender
They’re leading me in paths that I must trod
I’ll have no fear for Jesus walks beside me
For I’m sheltered in the arms of God
So let the storms rage high
The dark cloud rise
They don’t worry me
For I’m sheltered safe within the arms of God
He walks with me and naught of earth can harm me
For I’m sheltered in the arms of God

Amid uncertainty, tough times and the hardships that life sometimes throws our way, it’s comforting to know God has us sheltered in his loving, caring arms. If you’re going through a tough time, anxious about tomorrow, or need some inspiration, sing this song and remember the words of the prophet Isaiah

“So do not fear, for I am with you: be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NIV
